Nursing.

No email from Holden today. I'm hoping that maybe they will give him time to go to the internet zala at some point this week just so he can send over a quick "hi" but I am highly doubting that will happen! This is the perfect week for this to happen though because this week I am a happy girl so it will balance out how much I miss him.

Today I had an almost 12 hour long clinical. And only 4 hours of sleep. Woo! lol. It was rough because I was super exhausted but it was my first time ever working with real patients! I was super nervous this morning when I got there but it is actually SO much better working with real people and not mannequins.

The amount of work I did today was insanity. My teacher made it very clear that for us to get the most out of our clinical experience that we should just constantly be asking who we can help. So I did! It's easy, you just walk down the hallway and see someone in their wheelchair and they pretty much always accept your help. Anyway, I am basically like a zombie right now but it was so worth it. I absolutely love nursing and I wouldn't change to another profession for anything.

What I love about nursing is that you really are just helping all the time. We did more CNA type skills today but even as nurses you are constantly helping the patients and keeping the best interest of the patient in mind. I know it is going to be an incredibly rewarding career. I can't wait. I mean I helped a woman brush her teeth today and she said it was the nicest thing that was ever done for her. She made me smile :)

After my busy day tomorrow I get to go home to Phoenix and see my family! I'm so excited. They make everything in the world bearable. I'm so looking forward to almost a full week away from this apartment and then two weeks after that over a full month away. Hallelujah!

Have you seen New Moon yet? I went to the premiere and basically died when I saw it. Shhh don't tell Holden but Edward and Jacob are so freaking attractive! :D

Promise ring.

What girl doesn't dream of getting a promise ring? I always have. I don't know why, I just felt like it would be something really special to get before I actually got engaged. Well... I got one!!!


Yep that's what was in that pretty pink little box. :) Oh and for the record Holden told me to open it so I'm totally not in trouble! Yes! But I cried, and I'm way happy. He is amazingly sweet.

Also, Holden's letters will now be posted on his new blog by Lezlee. I'll post the link on the right hand side. We do not mind at all for you to read his letters, so don't be afraid to ask for permission! This blog may also become private, although I'm afraid that will mean no one will read it anymore. Also, there is this prettttttty little pink box sitting on my desk calling my name and I can't open it until 11/11- my anniversary (due to the fact that my lovely perfectly wonderful boyfriend is a sadist!!!)! I'm trying very hard to be patient (and plug my ears to its calls) ;)

There is someone in my life that tries to put me down every single day. Sometimes it is hard but most of the time I just ignore them and remember how many things I have to be happy about in my life. Such as Holden having been gone for 3 months already!! I was going to upload old pictures of us through the years but I think I'll save the photo montage for next week for our anniversary!!

Do you ever wonder how someone can believe they are your friend but then they clearly never really care about you? In fact they put more effort into putting you down than holding you up? Sometimes I wonder about that. Maybe it is a skewed perception of reality. Who knows.

But I have plenty to be happy about right now. Thanksgiving and winter break are quickly approaching. Nursing school is so much fun and so interesting that I look forward to going to class every day. I have so many good friends that I know I can count on. My family is just plain awesome. Holden and his family are just plain awesome. And I'm (almost) over the flu that has plagued me since Saturday! These are all the things I think about every day that always make me smile. I mostly post pictures of Holden and Hooch. I think for a change I will post pictures of ALL of these things that make me happy!

Things you probably didn't know before!

I was just thinking about Holden (SURPRISE!) and about how I think very few people truly understand him! So here are a few things about my sweet boy that I think people should know. :)

1. He is so not quiet! He is actually quite silly and talkative when he's around people that really know him.
2. He cracks me up. Sometimes we'd be watching TV and he would make me cry laughing and his parents would look at us like "What the heck are you they giggling about now??" :) One time he made a joke while we were watching The Dark Knight and I laughed for at least 5 minutes.
3. He is so incredibly thoughtful. And I mean this about everything! We'd be watching a movie and he'd say "Wow that is a really interesting camera angle!" And I'd never notice anything like that. And he is so thoughtful about people. He will always give someone the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention how thoughtful he is with me, I couldn't ask for anything better...
4. He loves to draw! He spent 4 hours on the way home from Disneyland perfecting this one tag he had come up with. I love watching him do it because he thinks of things I never would!
5. He loves music. That boy could listen to music for hours on end and never get bored.
6. Ok, the way he gets when he thinks something is cute is so cute. One time he made a dragonfly out of my hair tie and some bobby pins and he was just so cute with it. Those moments make me fall in love with him so much more because he is just plain sweet.
7. He has never NOT opened a door for me. He has gotten every single one. Even when I'm driving. I don't think he realizes how much I appreciate that!
8. We are actually quite hilarious together. At a baseball game before he left we decided we needed our own comedy show. Yes. We are THAT funny.
9. He is insanely patient. Unless you upset his personal space. But otherwise he is soooo much more patient than I am, and I love him for it!
10. He loves sauce. And drinks. When you go out to eat with him he will always order extra sauce. And if you are supposed to get your own drink he will make some crazy combination that always turns out great. One time he refilled my drink for me and told me he added something in it and made me try and guess. I tasted it and said "Oh this diet coke does taste different... HMM." And he let me think for a while until he admitted that really all he added was "love." He must have enjoyed watching me suffer while I tried to figure it out! lol. And this summer at my cabin my mom made pulled pork and I saw this concerned look on his face so I said "Don't worry I got out the extra barbecue sauce for you." and he was so surprised I had noticed how much he loves sauce! haha.
11. Speaking of him eating- he never gets anything on his clothing. But you will frequently find some sort of sauce on his forehead. How did it get there? I'm not entirely sure.
One last one:
12. His laugh and smile when he is REALLY laughing is probably my favorite thing in the world. It is priceless. Probably because you have to really know him to see it. And if you are the one to make him laugh like that, it will make your whole year.

So there are a few things that make Holden, Holden. Just in case he had you tricked that he is shy and quiet ;)
